Josh Prohibition vs. “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross: The Final Chapter?

Josh & M-Dogg on this Sunday’s PWO Title Match: CLICK HERE

Some athletes’ professional and personal lives become so intertwined that they become synonymous with one another. For some it is due to their unbreakable bond of friendship, their unwavering in-ring chemistry, and the notoriety they achieve as one of the most incredible tag teams of their age & promotion. For some, it is due to their intense hatred, their thirst for one another’s blood and the will and desire to not just end their rivalry, but to end the other man’s career. However, very rarely do two athletes come along, who are just as synonymous for their personal bond as they are for their personal animosity. Such is the case with “M-Dogg 20” Matt Cross and Josh Prohibition. One-time inseparable, one-time best friends, now two components in a years-long epic war.

Nearly ten years ago, M-Dogg & Josh began their journey together as underground cult heroes, risking life and limb in the hopes of getting noticed. Once entering professional wrestling, both men were on top of the world, achieving a goal they had worked tirelessly toward. However, it was here that the seeds were planted for what would explode into a full-scale war nearly a decade later in PWO. As M-Dogg & Josh began to wrestle across various independent promotions, both as partners and opponents, their goal was still singular, to hone their craft, and rise to the top of professional wrestling together. But even back then, in the back of their minds, the underlying question was always: Who really WAS the better of the two?

Time went on, and success for M-Dogg & Josh seemed to come naturally. Now a near full-time tag team dubbed “Youthenasia”, the duo exploded throughout the northeast United States. With innovative styles and youthful energy, they were an instant attraction. M-Dogg, with his innovative aerial assault and body seemingly chisled from granite, left audiences in awe. Where M-Dogg delivered the style, Prohibition supplied the substance. Focusing on the mental aspects of wrestling and technical wrestling, Prohibition grew to become one of the most skilled and well-rounded stars anywhere. Success took them international, from Japan to Europe to all over North America. However, despite a calm and cohesive surface, tempers and aggravation was beginning to rage within.

Throughout their years as a tag team, M-Dogg and Josh continued to occasionally find themselves as oppositions, singles matches, tag matches, 3 or 4 way dances. But neither seemed to be bothered by it, for deep inside the question still lingered, who, if anyone, really was the star of the now-branded Burning River Brigade tag team? Was it style or substance? High flying or mat mastery? Psychotic risks or psychological mind games? With both men veering in different directions, the inevitable finally happened, as M-Dogg and Josh largely went their separate ways. However, it was not a peaceful separation and would not be without repercussions. The doubt still lived inside them both.

M-Dogg, now also known as Matt Cross, found himself back in the same building as his years-long tag partner in October of 2007 as part of a new, exciting, and fresh television product: Pro Wrestling Ohio. Slated to be in the main event of the very first PWO TV Taping, M-Dogg was given the unofficial nod by PWO officials as THE star to watch, and the potential face of this up-start promotion. However, one man objected. Years of anger, doubt, frustration, and perhaps jealousy, came pouring out uncontrollably. M-Dogg’s PWO debut had ended tragically, as his past caught up with him. M-Dogg’s Cleveland homecoming was ruined by the very man who had been with him at the very start… Josh Prohibition.

Since day one in PWO, Prohibition and Cross have made it their main objective to destroy one another, and to finally sever all ties with their former partner. The one-time friendly competitive rivalry has exploded into hostility, greed, and vengeance. The personal stakes have never been greater, and the professional stakes are nearly immeasurable. The man who can prevail against the other, not only vindicates 10 years of questioning and wondering, but also makes history as the first ever Pro Wrestling Ohio Heavyweight Champion.

Who truly is the best of the Burning River Brigade? Did M-Dogg 20’s fearlessness and athleticism push their team to new heights? Or was it the cunning and calculated mind of Josh Prohibition, who held it all together whether his partner succeeded or crashed and burned? Who is prepared to handle the task of being the first ever heavyweight champion of the fastest rising promotion in Ohio today?

On August 3... Both men will answer the burning question and hope to write the final chapter. In their minds, in PWO, and in life… only one man can reign supreme. He will begin the new chapter of his career, without partner, peer, or parallel… known simply as PWO Champion.

PWO: GARGANO vs. IRON: LAST MAN STANDING: HISTORY & VIDEOS - 7/28/08

Gargano & Iron discuss “Last Man Standing”: CLICK HERE

Gargano’s assault on Greg Iron (Feb. 2008): CLICK HERE

Heart. Courage. Determination. These words exemplify Gregory Iron, both in his career and in life. Born with cerebral palsy and raised in a tumultuous and hazardous home, Iron had the odds against him all his life. Verbal and emotional abuse from his parents, constant ridicule in school, and his mother’s growing crack addiction were merely a few of the many pitfalls Greg endured as a part of everyday life. However, adversity served only to make him stronger, more prepared for adverse conditions, and ready to face life’s challenges. When Greg nearly died one year ago at the Plain Dealer Pavilion thanks to a severe concussion, Iron never feared the end of his career or livelihood, but merely another obstacle to overcome. With the help of his strong will and desire, and professional wrestling as his life-long escape from the pain and torment surrounding him, Gregory Iron has grown into a complete and successful competitor, and an even more successful man.

Johnny Gargano. Cocky, self-absorbed, yet wise beyond his years with ring knowledge rivaling that of the most grizzled of veterans. Gargano is Cleveland wrestling’s golden child, with the ring savvy, intelligence, and good looks to grow into the complete package of pro wrestling. Gargano does not know the feeling of courageously fighting through abuse and ridicule, he was always the successful one, the attractive one, the stand-out, and the prodigy. Naturally gifted and genetically blessed, Gargano embodies the silver-spoon mindset. However, beneath Gargano’s cosmetic exterior exists a monster more grotesque than can be imagined. A hideous creature filled with jealousy, insecurity, and hate. When Iron pinned Gargano last October in Iron‘s first match back from his concussion, proving once and for all the pauper was on the same level as the prince, Gargano’s world was shattered. Gone was the brash young kid with a quick wit and overbearing personality. Gone was the egotistical punk fans just wanted to punch in the mouth. A darker Johnny Gargano was here. The monster had been awoken.

After four months of building resentment and insecurity, Gargano lashed out with the now-infamous attempt to end Greg’s career. Gargano attempted to destroy Iron not just physically, but mentally. By attempting to retire Iron, Gargano was taking the one and only thing Greg depended on his entire life… and forcing it from him. Iron was bloody and beaten, yet, despite all of our thoughts to the contrary, he was not beaten. Three more months of rehabilitation and recovery. Three months with one singular goal in mind, one singular obstacle to overcome. In May of this year, despite doctor’s orders, Iron began his journey to that goal, with the signing of a waiver and the issuing of a challenge.

Sunday night, August 3, Gargano and Iron compete one-on-one for the first time in ten months in one of wrestling most dangerous environments: Last Man Standing, where the only way to win is to beat your opponent so badly, he is unable to answer a ten count.

For Gargano it is a chance to absolve a blemish and re-write history, to finally defeat Iron swiftly and soundly and solidify his status as “above” someone he looks down on as so inferior. It is also his chance to finish what he started earlier this year, to re-awaken the monster within and assault Iron to the point his will never be able to recover and never be able to return. Gargano could rid the wrestling world of arguably his biggest threat.

For Iron it is a chance to cement his status as a top-tier player. It is his chance to return to the very venue he nearly died in a year prior, the Plain Dealer Pavilion, to take that location from the site of his lowest of lows, to his highest of highs. His chance to show that despite Gargano’s malicious intent, Iron will literally and figuratively not stay down. It is his chance to show his prior win over Gargano was not a fluke, and through hard work and dedication anything truly is possible. Most of all, it is one last hurdle for Gregory Iron. Is Greg prepared for the biggest obstacle of his life? Is Greg prepared to face the one man who embodies everything Iron has fought his entire life to defeat?

Only one can be the Last Man Standing.

VIDEO ONLINE: BANE vs. CRONUS CONTRACT SIGNING! - 7/22/08

On Sunday, August 3 at the Plain Dealer Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio,, months of speculation comes to an end as “The Indestructible” Cronus, along with money-hungry agent Aaron Maguire, goes one on one with the locker room enforcer Jason Bane as part of PWO Wrestlelution. Should Cronus win, Aaron Maguire would receive $5000 of Bane’s money. However, if Bane emerges victorious, he receives five minutes alone in the ring with Aaron Maguire. And perhaps most importantly of all, the question will finally be answered: Who is the Most Dominant Man in PWO?

Recently on PWO TV, Bane & Cronus finally made their match official. Months of stalling and loopholes from Aaron Maguire, including a restraining order saying Bane can’t touch Cronus or Maguire, finally comes to an end as all parties involved put pen to paper. A course to begin carving their legacy, forging their reputations, and solidifying their abilities.

Through the next eight months, great sacrifices were made. Blood was shed, bodies were hurt, wills were damaged but did not break. All with the goal to reach the pinnacle of their profession, the height of their careers, and inch their way closer to the next level. On August 3, they will arrive.
